Most people looking for work spend weeks or even months of exploration, an interview with a potential employer to get there. Once you have an appointment, then "sold" true beginning, because this is the gate to offer a job. Everything seems on the road a good job for the interview, do not drive. So one of the most frequently asked questions for each unemployed person "How do I ace the interview?" Here are some suggestions:
Preparation: There really is no substitute for preparation. Do some researchthe Target Company and the industry. If you are an area in which you have learned, make new friends, to know something about the company or the specific job. Prepare answers to frequently asked questions interview. Make sure you have a short "elevator pitch" to get quickly to answer the question "What are my unique skills that I have to offer this employer?" Willing to offer advice, and although it may not come during an initial interview, a range of compensationin mind in case you are asked.
Practice: Practice, Practice, Practice. All great performances are rooted in practice. Look at any recording artist, professional athlete, or skilled surgeon. What each of them has in common is lots of practice at what they do best. If you want to "ace the interview," you can only give your best performance if you practice. Practice answers to anticipated interview questions with a spouse or friend. Even if you don't have anyone to role play a live practice session, then practice in your mind, and visualize a good performance. Studies have shown that such "virtual" mental practice sessions are often as effective as an actual live session. Practice will give you the confidence needed to come across as a well-qualified candidate, and is the key to a successful interview.
Present: Get ready early, get dressed for success, and arrive for the interview early. If you leave extra time, then an unplanned traffic delay will not be a big deal; however, without extra time, you will be running late and it will add to your stress level. Presenting yourself well starts with looking good. Take care of the basics to be well groomed and well dressed. Even if the company has a "business casual" dress code, being a little "over-dressed" with a suit and tie for men or upscale business attire for women will perhaps set you apart from other candidates. Bring a folio and pen to take notes. Have extra copies of your resume ready in case you need them. Finally, if you have done your homework on the company and practiced, then you can use your game "A" for getting the interview and present with confidence.
After thanking the interview, follow up with either hand written note or an e-mail interview after the follow-up. Not enough to say "thank you", but also left the door open for further follow-up with the words you have also followed in a week to ten days. Do not worry about job loss due to the follow-up. Employerexpect well qualified and motivated candidates to follow up, but be sure to do it in a respectful and professional manner.
These tips may seem very basic; however, all Super Bowl winning teams start with blocking and tackling basics at practice. Their players practice the basics until they become second nature, and that's why they become a top ranked team. If you want to "ace the interview," make sure you don't ignore the basics. Put the four "P's" to work for you and "ace" your next interview.
